Job Opportunity: Food for Families – Program Manager

Position Description:  Organize and oversee all aspects of the Food for Families program, consistent with CityReach Care Society's  vision, mission and Christian core values.

Program Description: Food for Families is a wholesome weekly food bank and nutritional education program offered to families in need with dependent children in the community of East Vancouver. The program is run in a welcoming environment where families are served with dignity and respect and all effort is made to build relationship and grow community.

Duties to Include:
•    Create and ensure a welcoming environment for all food bank participants and volunteers where families have access to wholesome food and relevant health and wellness services.
•    Create and monitor program budget, keep program expenses within budget, track and report donations and/or expenses along with supporting documentation to the accountant.
•    Develop, refine, and maintain registration and enrollment procedures, and confidentiality policies.
•    Build relationships with in-kind donors for food sourcing, and handle all levels of communication from initial outreach to appreciation.
•    Plan, order and arrange delivery/pick-up of purchased and donated weekly food items in accordance with the FFF food security and sustainability mandate.
•    Develop and oversee the recruitment, screening and training of FFF volunteers and staff.
•    Liaise with community partner organizations to arrange regular on-site visits.
•    Organize quarterly nutritional education sessions and food security related workshops.
•    Share announcements and offer a prayer of blessing over the food prior to the food-line starting.
•    Assist with other CityReach events and administrative duties as required.


Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
•    Minimum of 2 years experience in non-profit leadership or management, working with low income and marginalized communities
•    Familiar with food security and food justice principles, and lower mainland food security resources
•    Critical analysis of the charity model, interested in sustainable community development principles
•    Ability to remain calm and cheerful in a high stress environment, ability to handle conflict resolution around issues of race or privilege
•    Experience with anti-oppression frameworks or process driven organizing, critical self reflection around bias
•    Ability to speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic, Kurdish, Spanish, or Burmese an asset

Salary and Benefits:
