Summer Activity Schedule

The Canadian Diabetes Association is helping us host another session of the popular Food Skills for Families class for Seniors. Later this year we hope to host another 6 week course for seniors, as well as two modules for new immigrants.
We're very excited about tomorrow's big Vancouver Dialogues event! Local community chefs Najia Elacel and Barry Londry are teaming up with Andrew George (chef and author of A Feast for All Seasons: Traditional Native Peoples' Cuisine) and Daryle Nagata (Executive Chef of the Pan Pacific Vancouver) to create a tempting fusion menu representing Vancouver's intercultural vibrancy.

Chef George and Chef Nagata will be speaking on the discussion panel, as well as First Nations gardener/teacher/activist Cease Wyss, and community developer/food security coordinator Stephanie Lim. The topic? Bridging First Nations and immigrant communities, cultural food stories, and food as a way to build community.

Barry and Najia are in the kitchen preparing for tomorrow. Last I checked, the kitchen contained ground bison, geoduck, sea asparagus, cloudberry and huckleberry preserves, side stripe prawns, and several trays of freshly baked bannock. Yumm!

Meanwhile, here is the new schedule of summer activities. Don't forget our upcoming Film and Potluck night (May 17) or the May 30 community kitchen. Contact us to register for either event.

Vegetable starters on offer at Van Dusen Garden's big annual plant sale.
