May Schedule

Rosemary, thyme, chives, and peas growing on the Rooftop Garden.

Despite the rather cold start to our agricultural year, there are definite signs of life in our gardens. On the Rooftop Garden apple trees and blueberry bushes are flowering and kale, coriander, Asian greens, arugula, lettuce, and radishes are making their presence known. We also have several garden "volunteers" turning up--sunflowers, marigolds, and cornflowers to name a few.

Here is the schedule of May events.

Coming in June: our annual food preserving workshop series will return, this year with workshops at Renfrew Community Centre as well as at Collingwood Neighbourhood House. We'll also be planting Native edible plants at the Horley Street Orchard site throughout the summer (the Saskatoon Serviceberry trees at the plant nursery were so tempting today!) so please stay tuned.
