Our Gardens Growing

Over 200 people have participated in rooftop garden workshops since the beginning of this growing season. Everythings seems to be thriving dispite the cold wheather we've been having. Youth, Children and other participants have planted chinese vegetables, cinnomon basil, endive, broccoli, artcokes, fava beans, celery, apple trees and hanging baskets with herbs. We've been using the herbs and vegetables in some of our local programs such as the Monday night 'Family Branching Out' dinner and the Saturday morning 'Breakfast and Shower Program.' Participants have commented on the freshness of the salads and the aroma of the food which smell delicious.

Here's so photographs of what's been growing.

The garden on the rooftop is looking so great despite the miserable weather lately. I wonder what it will look like after a few days of sunshine!

Once the sun comes out it would be great to open up the rooftop at lunchtime so people can enjoy the garden during their breaks???
